A voting district is the area that a particular elected official represents. There are several types of voting districts, including:
-
Congressional districts are the boundaries that define who represents you in the U.S. House of Representatives. There are currently 18 congressional districts in Pennsylvania. (There are no districts for U.S. senators, because they represent the entire state.)
-
State legislative districts are the boundaries that define who represents you in the PA legislature. Based on where you live, you’re assigned to two state legislative districts: a PA Senate district and a PA House district. There are currently 50 PA Senate districts and 203 PA House districts.
