Our democratic principle, “one person, one vote” expresses our ideal that each of us has a voice in selecting our leaders in government. But gerrymandering - drawing voting district lines to favor one political party or the other, or even individual office holders - suppresses many voices.
Congregation Keneseth Israel is hosting a public education program on reforming Pennsylvania’s redistricting process. Fair Districts PA speaker Terry Schettini will provide an update on legislative efforts to reform PA’s redistricting process. Terry will discuss Fair Districts PA supported legislation, roadblocks in Harrisburg and FDPA’s strategy going forward. Ideas for how individuals and organizations can advocate for change will be shared.
Fair Districts PA is a non-partisan coalition of citizens and organizations seeking to reform PA redistricting rules by ensuring that the process is impartial, transparent, and accountable.
