A Primer on Redistricting and How to Get Involved
Event Description
The League of Women Voters for Monroe County is hosting a virtual public education program on Pennsylvania’s redistricting process. Fair Districts PA speaker Debbie Trudeau will explain PA’s current redistricting process and she will demonstrate how it has undermined democracy. Debbie will discuss how and when the new maps will be developed. She’ll explain what has happened at public redistricting hearings thus far and she’ll explain how Pennsylvania residents can get involved. This session will also engage Michael Waxenberg, one of FDPA’s winning map makers. He will help facilitate conversation on proposed legislative maps and on what makes a “fair” map.
Fair Districts PA is a non-partisan coalition of citizens and organizations seeking to reform PA redistricting rules by ensuring that the process is impartial, transparent, and accountable.
