The Wyomissing Public Library is hosting a public education program on Pennsylvania’s redistricting process. Fair Districts PA speaker Tony Crocamo will explain PA’s current redistricting process and how, despite overwhelming public support, legislation was not passed to prevent partisan gerrymandering.
Attention now shifts to the drawing of maps and to preparation for public hearings that are being held by the the Senate and House State Government Committees and the Legislative Reapportionment Commission.
While we face incredible challenges, Tony will demonstrate that, through submitting testimony, we have an amazing opportunity to shape Pennsylvania’s future. Participants will find out how to dig into what defines their districts, thoughts will be shared about past gerrymandered districts, and participants will learn to prepare testimony that describes what they’d like to see as new maps are drawn.
Materials will be provided for preparing testimony.
Fair Districts PA is a non-partisan coalition of citizens and organizations seeking to reform PA redistricting rules by ensuring that the process is impartial, transparent, and accountable.
