Final Redistricting Reform Commission Meeting: Harrisburg

Event Description

The Pennsylvania Redistricting Reform Commission has scheduled the final commission meeting to take place in Harrisburg on June 12.

Governor Tom Wolf created the 15-member bipartisan commission by executive order in November and appointed David Thornburgh, president and CEO of the nonprofit Committee of Seventy, as its chairman.

The commission will study best practices in other states and submit a report to the governor and legislature later this year with recommendations for a nonpartisan redistricting process that safeguards election integrity and fairness.

Come for as much as you’re able. There will be two public comment sessions from approximately 4:00 to 5:30 PM and 5:40 to 7:00 PM.

There are two ways to participate in this meeting and both are very valuable:

• Be a commenter. This requires putting your name on the commenter sign-up list once you arrive and then, during one of the comment sessions, taking a few minutes to share your thoughts on what Pennsylvania’s redistricting process should be. • Be an observer. To do this, you are welcome to arrive whenever you can, and to observe for as little or as long as you like. You can posts thoughts, maps or whatever you want on the Wall of Democracy.
