PA Voters Want Fair Districts

When legislative leaders manipulate district boundaries to keep themselves in office or to silence their opposition, we ALL lose.

Statewide Conference: December 7 in Harrisburg. Mapping Pennsylvania’s Future: Next Steps for Redistricting Reform

Not Red. Not Blue. Just Fair.

Fair Districts PA formed in 2016 to advocate for a better redistricting process and to inform voters about the harms of gerrymandered districts. We want an independent redistricting process and accountable legislature that represents all Pennsylvanians well.

What Have We Learned?

For decades this abuse of our political system put Pennsylvania on the list of most gerrymandered states in the nation. While current maps are better as a result of citizen advocacy and attention, there’s nothing in law to prevent future extreme gerrymandering.

What Do We Need?

We need to amend the PA constitution to create a better process. Under PA’s current redistricting processes, legislative leaders are choosing their voters. FDPA is advocating for an independent redistricting commission with a transparent, public process and clear, prioritized mapping standards

Transparent

Citizens participate in the process and closed-door dealmaking ends

Accountable

Clear standards against dividing counties and municipalities more than necessary.

Responsive

Districts that truly reflect the will of the voters
